Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) Level 2
Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) Level 2

Level 2 of Time of Flight Diffraction: Knowledge to the next level!

Take your understanding to new heights and delve into a world of precise diagnostics and accurate results.

It uses a pair of transducers, one which sends an ultrasonic pulse and another which receives it.
The difference in the time at which the pulse is sent and received is then used to calculate the distance of reflection from the point at which the sound was sent.

This method can be used to detect cracks, voids, porosity, and other flaws in metal or composite structures. TOFD Level 2 can also be used for automated weld inspection for quality control purposes.
